Actually, I'm chancing it a bit with that, and taking the car to Shaun Bateman since I have no idea what his business is like. The car had to be taken somewhere soon and the midlands mafia all seem to have a lack of space right now. Unless of course it's the curse of Jimmy Shand's 'wrong parts Jupiter'.
This poor old car has had years in the dark, so a period of daylight use -with a few breakdowns- is a step-up.
As for chancers: no man is good enough for any man's daughter.

And I've been holding Amy hostage for 4 years - I think the ransom notes must have got lost in the post or ignored. I know which is more likely, even assuming Royal Mail were working to their usual standard!

Why, in the 1970s did the manufacturers give us these colours? We all wanted deep purple but they gave us mud. They called it 'wine' when it was more like Bovril; or 'plum' when it was prune.

Maybe it's good that Jowett didn't last until the 1970s. A Jupe in the same colour as that Crapi would have been truly horrible...

Like I stated originally - Capri colour - 'Ford Deep Pink Desire' having said that wait until you see the colour of my early 70's Rover - according to the manufacture it is 'Lunar Grey' - I can assure you it still has the paint that it left the factory with but grey it most certainly is not!

It all went quiet while the lorry driver was on holiday. Looks like the Jupiter will be at Shaun Bateman's garage by the end of this week. I'll post details as soon as I know.

The incorrect Jupiter: Not Jimmy Shand's and some parts not Jupiter's.
Shaun Bateman has the car at his works in Ashington (between Horsham & Worthing).

Highlights include:
* cracked block to o/s cylinder barrels
* worn steering rack
* rear brakes seized (drum extractor tool sought)
* hood ripped right across
* dodgy wiring

This isn't the end. This isn't even the beginning of the end, but it may just be the end of the beginning.

Righty then. The shopping list should be fairly easy, I think the spares section has got steering racks planned (if not in stock) so worth a call to them tonight. I think they also have a drum extractor tool that can be loaned out to members.

The hood any trim company should be able to sort for you, either repair or replace as long as the frame is solid.

Dodgy wiring will be a bit of a pain, but isn't the end of the world. It only took me a few weekends to wire up the SC, brand new wiring loom to fit an SA was £200 from memory, there are basically two companies that do them, one good, one not good. Keith may be able to remember which company we bought from, they were the good company - braided covering etc, with all colours correct as on the diagram. If you are doing one, let me know and I will come and help - it will be much easier now I have done one car, and despite 74 different coloured wires, it is not a complicated loom really.

Ben - If Jack gets involved - just remove anything from sight that can be broken - because he is very good at breaking things - in fact should you have anything that requires breaking Jack's your man - also keep him well away from the rivet gun - having said that his eyes will probably start to water if there is a rivet gun in the building - I will let Jack explain !
