Back in the "olden days" when there were still a few wirewove bed bases around a bedframe could be securely propped up at a angle of about 45 degrees and the stony soil thrown at the "mesh" off the shovel. In theory the lumps and stones would roll down and the finer earth would leak through to the other side. Your soil looks like it's in slightly damp condition to be effectively sieved with that idea though.
I wonder if Junk Shops still have wirewove bases . . . . . ?
