On the subject of Jupiter steering rod 52862, I have a spare one from which I could possibly reverse engineer a 2D CAD drawing - I am however exceptionally busy at the moment, so it would not happen quickly.
I would have to check the one I have against my car [E3/SA/877R] to make sure it is not from a Javelin.
WRT the material, the articulated ball end needs to be case hardened and ground, but the rest of the rod should remain in the unhardened state so that the rod can bend but not break when subjected to a kerb-strike event. That is why I have this spare here; it is slightly bent.
I thought that looking at Drawing 21 "Jowett CD Steering Arm" in the Engineering Drawings that Keith recently uploaded might tell us what steel JCL used for steering arms, but the drawing mentions EN33, EN18, (both of which are very unusual) and what looks like EN15 but is more likely to be EN16 which is probably a much more likely steel for this application.

Re: steering rack
Just a thought - Morris Minor seem to have a similar one (but without an original I can't compare) - look at ebay - eBay item number:292618959154
You never know, there might be a simple solution where the same part is used on another car

Jupiter Steering Rod - Part Number: 52862 & the socket - Part Number: 50567 are both currently being researched & priced by a specialist small parts manufacture to decide on the most economical process for remanufacture - once pricing has been received and providing that JCS agrees a small batch shall be commissioned - what would really help at this stage is provisional orders - I am aware that Martin needs a pair - anyone else that would like to place a provisional order (subject to pricing being acceptable) could you please advise via this thread or contact myself directly - my contact details are on page 3 of the 'Jowetteer' - or you can PM me via Jowett Talk - Many thanks - Chris

Re: steering rack
Regarding the steering arms.
I have been intending to do a comparison of the Javalin and Jupiter arms. Are there any original drawings of these parts, this would help to compile a CAD drawing. A 2D CAD drawing I could then do.
