Centenary Rally Tee Shirts?

Post by Leo Bolter »

Hello all.

I'm sure that there'll be someone on the Centenary Rally organising committee who will be charged with making souvenir "merchandise".

If that person, is interested and likes to contact me, I can supply a digital file I made of a simplified "Jowett Winged Logo" (a tiny sample is shown below). The full sized image is ideal for printing on the back of Tee shirts as it's quite large (printed at 100%, it's about 29 x 17 cm) and with suitable additional text could make a great souvenir of the Rally.

I'm SO sorry I can't be at the Rally . . . that fact's driven my conscience to be in a helpful mood, so maybe by making this offer it will be "salved" :D

I was thinking :o . . . Perhaps a Global video conference could be organised for the likes of us who would like to be there, but can't . . . . ?

(Edited at 14.00hrs today)
Cheers.
Leo.

I would offer to do it, like I did a couple of years back; but will be travelling light as we are continuing on the Jupitour, so laptop is out of the question.

Tee Shirt Logo

Post by Leo Bolter »

Hi All.

The Tee Shirt Logo has been put up in the Gallery by Keith earlier today, using a file I sent to him on a Skype message to illustrate what I was talking to him about. I have since commented there (in the Gallery) and also reduced that file size to "tiny". That comment is repeated below,

(QUOTE:)
My original thought and the reason for posting my comment on the Forum, was for my "simplified" Logo to be only used (at this time*) by the Centenary Rally committee Merchandising person, on Tee shirts (or similar) that would be sold as a souvenir at the Rally . . . not for "general consumption", at this time ;-). Otherwise, as you can imagine, sales at the rally might be fairly slow, bought about if many have made their own shirts.

With this in view, and until I'm convinced otherwise, I will NOT put the full sized file up here.

BTW. I do have other Jowett logos and maker's plates in digital form, although some are not suitable for anything bigger than "letterhead" use. As an example I have file of a Javelin/Jupiter maker's plate with the car numbers left blank, so the appropriate car number can be personally hand written in using a fabric pen . . . (End of quote)

On the teleconference issue... we can get tech equipment to Wakefield - I will (hopefully) be going up in my Jupiter, but Mr Moon will be travelling as support crew in the Subaru, so we'll have plenty of space (assuming I'm not carrying a spare engine for TTD88 'just in case'...).

Video/audio link

Post by Leo Bolter »

That'd be really great Amy. Thank you.

As you can see by my signature below I use Skype, but I also have iChat set up, both of which can use video. I am using a iMac so there's a built in, quality camera.

I know there's pressure on for your time right now, but it would be great if you and I could establish contact using the machine you intend to take to Wakefield i.e. have a quick "practice" video/audio link up (I have already been doing video with your Dad now and then).

Perhaps, if we then set up a precise time closer to the Rally for another "practice" and let others know via this thread what that time is, they could arrange to link up with us too (I'm not sure how many people can be accommodated doing this . . . . and what becomes of the quality!) Have you had experience doing this? I think my son Carl would have done . . .

It seems to be a fairly formidable task you and "the team" have taken on to get your car to the rally, but I'm sure you'll get there (maybe with a few jobs to finish off in the near future :)

Anyway, here's a little encouragement for you to attach to the bottom of the rapidly being checked off list. The list that's probably stuck up on the wall of the workshop . . .

"Rotary" Charity Car Show in Wanganui - March 14, 2010

At this car show, when chatting to interested punters, I realised that JJ-1951 had been back on the road for about 27 years! . . wow, time flies when you're having fun! I also thought at that time, that if I'd bought a new car back then, there's every chance it'd been crushed into a little cube by now! Who knows, in 20 or 30 years from now you will probably have similar thoughts . . .

Cheers.
Leo.

Skypes limits

Leo, Tim Neville tells me Skype can handle up to 24 including the host. However I have no idea what happens to the quality on slowish connections. but there is a way to find out!
Compliments of the Season,
