I think that is a fair price for a good one. Anybody know the car?

I agree. I think it is a fair price for a good one. This is my point; I think that given the relative rarity and interest factor, Javelins have been habitually undervalued, mostly by those who know them best! They are numerically rare, they are different, they are far from perfect examples of motor engineering, this is what makes them interesting. We should recognise better their true intrinsic value. The 'trade' is obviously trying to 'talk them up' , we should support this.

I agree and have been saying it for years - bear in mind that this is about what you would pay for an early sixties Beetle in similar condition!

I have a Short 2, and would quite like to add a good, complete Javelin to my collection. Does anyone know of any good ones please?

Many thanks,
James

Javelin wanted.

Hello James, (- much more user-friendly than Baxter Motors).

There's a Javelin for sale in Sydney, New South Wales (Oz). It's Peter Riley's and if you're interested send me a P.M and I'll give you his contact number.

Tony.

I first set myself up as Baxter Motors and regretfully I can't change it! Grrr.

Will PM you this pm. Would cost a lot to import though, I fear.
Many thanks,
James

Javelin for sale in Melbourne

Post by Alastair Gregg »

Hello James,

This one is in Melbourne (Australia) so put 0061 in front of the phone number. $3000 is about £1500, so if it cost say £1000 to ship, it may still be a bargain:-

1950 Jowett Javelin, painted teal green
Registration Number RK 681
Serial Number 199954
Chassis Number E0 PB 8922
Engine Number 8834 (Crankcase Set Number?)
Asking Price $3,000.00
Contact Malcolm on Mobile Number xxxxxx (send me a PM and I'll let you have the number)
The car is located in Gisborne, north of Melbourne, in dry storage and is in very good condition. Only needs
a clean up before use.

I suggest you enquire and ask for an independent visit, get some photographs. It may be what you are looking for.

PM Forum Admin and he can change your id. He did mine and you don't lose any of the posts you have made either.
Compliments of the Season,

Alastair Gregg

Alastair,

The Javelin you are describing above is the second Javelin for sale in the OZ newsletter and not the one I posted.

I would think the Peter Riley Javelin might be worth much more, but what do I know?

James, as Alastair said, email K.C. and he'll sort out your faux-pas with your username.

Tony.
