'WAIT' 'AND' 'SEE' Perth to Sydney!!!

Post by Tony Fearn »

There doesn't seem to be a reference within JowettTalk about the three Bradfords attempting to cross Australia from the West (Perth) to the East (Sydney) at the moment.

But I've just had an email from my friends in NSW giving a website address which might just be of interest to the world-wide Jowett Fraternity.

There's a copyright on the content, but the web address is:-
www.waitandsee.net.au

It's definitely worth a look.

Tony.

Good luck to them all! As I have remarked before, if they are fitted with original seats they should obtain sponsorship from some manufacturer of Situpon embrocation

Spoke to Pete Holden last night who will be joining this crew somewhere along the way for a stint at driving them back. Wish I was there or at least if I had an air pillow.

What a fantastic effort. We will be following them on the website and we look forward to meeting the team and the Bradfords at Bendigo in early October.

GOOD LUCK FROM SCOTLAND

Congratulations on a job well done

Post by Alastair Gregg »

You did it!! Congratulations when will the DVD be available? Excellent effort with good positive P.R.

I wish we could follow through, with something equally as good in G.B.but as said before Lands end to John o Groats is not quite so dramatic.

Well done The Oddessy crew.

'WAIT' & 'AND' & 'SEE' across Australia!

Post by Tony Fearn »

There's progress on this saga.

Three Bradfords across Australia!! And it's rather wide.

According to the Sydney branch of the JCCA, (from the latest newsletter ['Idle Torque'] which I receive electronically because along with Noel Stokoe, I'm a member) the DVD and booklet of this modern day epic journey should be ready by the end of October.

Bill Ebzery ( President of the NSW Section) and his fellow Jowetteers have realised that this is almost as momentous in modern day Jowett motoring history as the original crossing of Africa in 1926 by the vintage Jowetts.

This being so it has taken quite a time to produce a record worthy to be a sequal to the fantastic booklet published by the Jowett Factory in the 20's.

According to the NSW section, only 500 copies of the book and DVD will be produced.

Alastair (Gregg) seems to be the focus of the U.K. interest in these publications, although Drummond (Black), as well as Alastair, has been down under recently and they've both met the 'intrepids' so I'll bet there's a post after this one from one or the other.

Maybe there'll be some reference in the November or December U.K. 'Jowetteer' magazine so that you can buy it for your loved one(s) in time for Christmas.

The Odyssey DVD

Post by Alastair Gregg »

I shall try to rise to the challenge Tony.

It has been suggested that the club shop could stock the DVD, which if the situation is normalised at the AGM regarding a shop keeper, would be the best thing for everybody. However for that we will have to "Wait And See". In the interim I am in touch with the NSW branch and am hoping to procure a number of these DVD's. They are not like the latest chick flick from HMV so the price by the time it gets here will be around £50.00. The NW section is aiming to show it at one of their meetings in February to any JCC member who is interested (Hot home made scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam too).
Not being Lord Rothschild, I cannot afford to buy stock in, on the off chance, but if anyone is really keen (Drummond, Tony ETC) send me a cheque before the end of the month and I will get a copy just as soon as they are released. I am in contact with the NSW branch and will post on the forum to inform all JCC members of the situation.

Will that do Tony?
Compliments of the Season,

Nice one Alastair.

The actual cost should be sorted by the end of October according to the write up in the NSW magazine, so perhaps your contact will let you know around that time.

The DVD, which has been professionally edited, runs for 2 hours 13 minutes, and is accompanied by a hardback A4 book with 110 pages, 132 colour photos, and 12 black and white photos plus maps and spares/equipment lists.

The DVD and book are a set as far as I understand, and the cost (which will be around 88 Aus dollars) includes both of them but not postage.

Only 500 sets will be made.

Tony.

AT LONG LAST
If I was to do justice to the history of Jowett motor vehicles and honour the colourful crossing of Africa by the two intrepid 1926 models, then the long lead time needed to be spent.
To that end, the DVD above was edited and produced by Gary Bell of K. I. Digicam Productions on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Gary was given the brief “tell the story about the Bradfords first, and all the fun secondâ€

The first post on this thread was added in early September 2008, and at long last it has come to fruition and is being advertised on JowettTalk.

I'm not sure that the majority of Jowetteers will have seen the post above this one, as the Internet, and especially JowettTalk in particular might not figure in their daily routine.

Hopefully there will be some mention in the U.K. Club mag., the Jowetteer, although it seems that there are rules and regulations about what can be publicised therein, free of charge, even when it could be of great interest to the members of all the affiliated Jowett clubs. (viz Noel's latest book)

So we wait for developments.

Tony.
