Silverstone win.

Post by Forumadmin »

A real surprise today when I attended the Harrow Car Club Christmas lunch. On the table littered with memorabilia of a hundred years of the club including letters from their club member since 1948 and Vice President Sir Stirling and Lady Suzie Moss, a lighter presented by Sir Stirling's father to Gerry Pentony, was the Birkett trophy that the three racing Jowetts won in 1988.

Mike Smailes, Geoff McAuley and Keith Clements made up the team that won the trophy in 1988.

I remember it well, dad wins at Siverstone was so cool, but it's McAuley!
There isn't much he didn't win but Mike (and a few others) were always snapping at his heels. He's got the trophy somewhere, think it was a very nice rose bowl.
