Re: Forum permissions
Yes, I have lost permissions, but it appears only some. For example, I am denied the links in the Javelin thread, "fuses" , but I can use the links in an earlier thread, about Javelin noises. I don't have the time to hunt out all the non working links and do not understand why they are not consistent.

Re: Forum permissions
Nick, The reason for inaccessibility was very simple. JT did not consider you a club member as your email address in JT was different to that in Membership list. I have made them the same.

Re: Forum permissions
Keith; please check my permissions if you would as, although a paid-up member, I do not seem to have access to the Technical Library and perhaps other sections too.
Thanks

Re: Forum permissions
Philip,
The problem is that I have not received a membership list from JOAC since 2023. This meant that new members of JOAC, and members who have changed their email address in JT or recently joined JOAC would not have access. It also meant that users whose membership of JOAC had lapsed would still have access.
The process I did adopt was that the JT user wishing to use their JOAC membership to gain access would have to ask the JOAC membership sec to email me confirming that JT user's JOAC membership. This process lapsed when JOAC was without a membership sec. So I did relent to allow previous JOAC members access.
Please can I ask you contact JOAC's membership sec and ask him to send me an up to date membership list, preferably an encrypted Excel spreadsheet, explaining the situation. I can then upload that into the system. Note that all sensitive membership details are encrypted on disk, unlike most systems that store such details in clear text. Thus even if somehow a perpetrator gets through Google Cloud security controls, and my extensive security controls to get into the system they still cannot read the stored data. What I am saying is that the data stored on the membership sec's PC is more vulnerable than storing it in the jowett.net Member Services system. For those worried about it, Google or any of its employees or AI cannot see the data either!
Please confirm you now have access.
Note that this change only applies to you and not to others in the old JOAC list (or new JOAC members) who will have to go through the process of getting confirmation from JOAC's membership sec. This only applies to JOAC members as the other Jowett clubs supply me with membership lists. I am a member of all four Jowett clubs.

Re: Forum permissions
I have added a detailed explanation to the error messages that users get when they are refused access. Hopefully this will reduce my admin!
Information
You are not authorised to download this attachment. You may need to register and login or you may need to be a member of one of the participating car clubs and have the same email address registered with that club as with JowettTalk. The current participating clubs are the Jowett Car Clubs of UK, Australia and New Zealand. JOAC members (and members who have recently joined another club) will need to ask their membership sec to confirm their membership by email to webmaster@jowett.net . Registered users who are not club members may also get access to the Library by making a suitable donation (see button above) and by satisfying FORUMADMIN of their purpose for wanting access. You can change your JowettTalk email address by clicking the down arrow next to your username (top right corner) , User Control Panel, Profile, Edit Account Settings, Email Address:. You will then have to wait for validation by Forumadmin. For access to some services the system also checks your phone number in Profile, Edit Profile, Telephone Number: , so please make sure that is in the correct format and up to date.
