1950 Turquoise Blue Javelin For sale

Post by Jav8092D »

Hi everyone,

I've decided to sell my Javelin project if anyone is interested.
It's one of three PB Turquoise Blue Deluxe Javelins shipped from the factory in April 1950 to Australia and is believed to be the only survivor of those three as well as the only Turquoise Blue (pre metallic) cars in Australia.
EOPB8092D is a matching numbers car with the correct Meadows gearbox.

I took the car on a bit over a year ago as a stalled (15 year) restoration project from the previous owner who had grown too old to complete it (his words). The car was and is remarkably rust free and the previous owner had stripped it and attended to an extensive amount of work refurbishing lots of components including torsion bar bushes, all the suspension components, all the brake components were re-sleeved with new shoes. The engine had the majority of recommended machining work (and modifications) completed about 10 years ago and then was carefully dry stored until I took the car on and reassembled it.
It has a rebuilt starter, generator, water pump/fan assembly etc. It has NOS rubber flex joints in the driveshaft that are in excellent condition
The car had been colour changed in the 80's to an awful (in my opinion) Avocado green. I took a lot of time with the local paint specialists using the very small remnants of the original colour left to get the proper Turquoise blue matched and have put the car back to its original specifications. The same owners at the time did their own reupholstery in a darker brown vinyl. They did a pretty good job and it is totally useable but my preference would be to put it back to the lighter leather.

The amounty of work done is too long to list here, but I'm happy to go over it with any prospective buyer.
It also comes with quite a lot of spares including another matched pair PB engine case that is in very good condition (corrosion damage wise and no cracks evident) I think 4 heads, front timing cover, a complete meadows gearbox (but damaged case) and a good replacement case for that box, lots of bits and pieces such as fuel pumps, spare carb, spare distributor, 2 radiators (both good) and many other miscellaneous items.
The car starts, runs, moves and stops although I think the gearbox could do with some oil sealing as it leaked and the carbs need tuning/balancing. (comes with full rebuild kits if it turns out they are needed)
I am not interested in doing the final bits and pieces to get it on the road as I have moved onto other interests.

My asking price is what it owes me $8,000.
The previous owner spent $10k on the engine machining work alone!
The car is located in Lakes Entrance Victoria (Australia)
