Still looking for a Distributor cap and/or a full distributor for Short Two

Post by Cyclecars »

Folks,
I have a 1924 Short Two that could use a new cap and points. The distributor is a later model Delco-Remy Model 366 which looks to be a replacement from the original. I need a cap that fits properly or part numbers from original (or replacement numbers).
I have done some very interesting research from here in the U.S. The Delco-Remy before they were merged, and the distributor model number I have is from a bit younger car (1925+ I think). Either way, it likely does not matter if I can find one of the right size, I'll use it.
If anyone here has one to sell or has detailed part number, this would help me. In the U.S., no Delco (Remy) distributors were 2 cylinder except for tractors later on. This is what is making this difficult to find here in U.S. A seemingly common cap in the U.K. is really hard for me to find here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Cyclecars,

If you are a member, have you tried JCS? They may well have just the spares you need.

I think Diccon and Jan Pridie have a similar Short Two, so again, have a look in the membership List that has just been republished and give them a call? They may well have some spares, if JCS don't have stock on the shelf?

All the best,

David

This is helpful. Thank you. I will contact the Pridies.
I do not know what JCS is. Is it a business in England? Sorry to be so ignorant, but I am new to this car and to the contacts for parts in England.
My other cars have not yet needed these sorts of parts.

Thanks again for the help!

Hi Keith,

JCS is short for Jowett Car Spares, who are based in Keithley. Their stock is only available to members, but they stock a wide range of spares for almost all Jowett's models, with over 700 stock lines. If you order from them, they will get the part to you by post, asap.

Paul Beaumont is the 'leading light' within JCS, and an email to him will, I am sure, bring a quick response.

All the best,

David

JSC is in Bradford and I can confirm they have many many spares, second hand and new and are a very friendly bunch, for cost of membership you get unrivalled parts supply and information and a monthly magazine, inside the magazine is all the contact numbers and other members near you
