The Trojan is not a van. It is a traditional Trojan Utility 4 seat canvas. Not a tourer. I can share details on prior ownership if you like via private email. You likely know the prior owner if you are a frequent Trojan rally participant acquaintance. :)

This is your car, before restoration, in approx 2004 I guess. Bought from Peter Rosoman. Very little if anything was missing. The dash panel was a new plank of wood, but with holes cut ready. At least I think it was new, really not sure. I sold the car to Peter Rogers, and then helped him sell it to Richard Proctor, who I guess you bought it from? His man did something with the breather, converted it to 12V. I found 6V was fine.

James,
First, and foremost. THANK YOU! I am so very sorry for such an incredibly long delay in my reply back. To be completely honest, I had given up on using this forum for information because it was so difficult to navigate and because I never received a notification that you had replied (I have notifications turned on, but... ? ) I learned a lesson that I need to be more patient and not give up on this Jowett

This background information is incredibly valuable to me, especially since I cannot mingle with you physically at events and such. I assure you that I would thank you in person with a beer/wine/cider/water or few if I could do so.

This restoration is really very nice. It is in the nicest condition of my cars and I greatly appreciate the love that went into it. I assure you that it is going to get lots of usage and will be shown around here in The States. It turns 100 years old this year and I plan to make the most of it in celebration. It will be my most favored car this year, for sure.

Regarding the dash panel, I am also thrilled to see that it might be correct. I planned to leave it alone for now anyway, but it helps to know that it could be correct. I agree that the 6 volt would have been fine left alone. I never convert 6 volts to 12 on my cars. But I plan to leave it alone since it is working fine.
You are correct that the breather is the main item that needs attention. The carburetter has remanence of a broken air cover and there is no evidence of any strangler anywhere. I designed and printed a little cover that seems to look a lot like original. In the springtime, I plan to pull the carb off again and remove that piece that is left inside the intake and place the cover which has that little spinning breather cover on it. So at least I can choke it a bit for cold start. Most of that air intake part design was finished just before I put the car away for winter. Hopefully I won't forget where I left off on it.

The photos are FANTASTIC and helpful to me. Part of why I get these cars is to find out all about the prior owners. The information you shared is incredibly helpful to me. You will be in my story telling now for sure!

Again, I cannot thank you enough and cannot apologize enough for not getting back to you. I really did just today stumble upon your reply from November because I had just renewed club membership and was doing my annual password cleanup management and hitting all of my old car clubs to verify access. (If you could see me, I am slapping my bald forehead repeatedly right now.)

Are you now getting notifications? It maybe they are going into your junk mail. Worth making Jowett net one your trusted sites in your mail client.

This forum has been running for twenty years and needs some curating, any offers of help most welcome!

I went in and looked at the details again. I think I had it messed-up. I have not ever gotten email notifications. I aggressively turned on more notifications. My guess is that it was my configuration. I'll blame myself on for this one.

I'd offer to help with the management, but I do not think I have the skills. I know computers in and out, but I am not a web interface designer by any stretch. I assume you are using an older web forums type of tool. I bow my head with respect that you are able to do what you do. I just don't know how web folks can maintain these sorts of things as time marches on and the tools become brittle. I am sure you have hundreds of horror stories. Thank you for doing this even as we users like to complain so much.

The forum uses software chosen in 2005 but it was well chosen and still maintained and is up to date. It is probably the most popular forum software.
At the time of choosing phpbb did not support pictures so Gallery was chosen to give members the ability. This became unsupported so a long process of migration moved them into phpbb, which started to support images, many in the Personal folders forum. Also performed was the migration of the previous forum on jowett.net that started in 1996 into JowettTalk.

But the forum is not the only service provided by the website. It also stores all the magazines and other documents in the Archive from 5 Jowett Clubs which are now searchable.

The forum is also integrated a bit with Member Services that allows some checking of membership but tight integration is difficult to maintain since the forum software updates every year. Member Services provides many useful services for members and officers of the club.

The server stores the club video library.

The server also provides email Services that the forum uses. This server which is in the Google Cloud started to run out of memory and so was upgraded over Christmas.
