Hi All,
Seeing the posts relating to the various CD models, which seem to have ended up in New Zealand, gives me an idea.
There is a Jowett CD type saloon in store at the Coventry Motor Museum in the UK, or certainly it was there when I visited some years ago.
It's in a part of the museum that is not open to the public, which is a pity. I found it very interesting and the car is in good condition. I wonder if they would consider loaning it to the Bradford Industrial Museum, so it can take it's place alongside the row of historic Jowett vehicles, to show the development of ideas over the years?
Perhaps Malcome Oliver, who was at one time the Director of the Museum, ( and who let me view the car ), would be receptive to this idea?
All the best,
David

According to the attached article, the CD car was scrapped;

I think if it did still exist, we would have heard about it, particularly if it was in a museum once managed by a prominent JCC member!
I would suggest that the car you saw was a Ferguson fitted with a Jowett engine.

Re: CD car
Hi Andy,
Many thanks for your post. Yes, you may well be right, it was years ago that I last saw the vehicle, and I wouldn't know what a Ferguson looked like. However, my post has triggered some interest from members and I have been sent a photo, taken at Howden Clough, presumably in the 1960's, of this car. Hopefully, I have attached it to this post?
I did take photos of the car in deep storage at the Coventry Motor Museum, but at that time these would have been prints and unfortunatly lost during a house move. Although all this was years ago, I must say that the car I saw in the garage in the Museum, did look very like the one in the photo? Could it be that we have a CD sitting under our noses? I am sure Malcome could help? Museums often have so much they are unable to display, as we have seen from the recent problems at the British Museum.
All the best,
David

Re: CD car
Hi All,
I should have added that the CD photo was kindly sent to me by Alan Rushworth, and he has since sent me a photo of the Ferguson car that is on display in the Museum. I can see that there are quite a few simularities with the CD photo taken at Jowett Engineering. My recollections of the car then in storage were hampered by the car being not easy to see completely, as it was in a fairly dark area of the museum's deep storage at the time. Oh well...we can but hope! Its good to see it now on full display.
I am very grateful to Alan for the CD photo, which shows how Jowett's might have been very successful with this new model, had there been the finances and body shop pressing facilities available?
All the best and many thanks,
David
