Wing Piping and indicators

Post by vicboddy »

Some of you know that I am busy bringing SC990 back to life, the car was last on the road in 1967 and then abandoned in a parking lot in the USA. There are a couple of interesting features on this car. Firstly, although heavily rusted out the aluminium is excellent, and every indication tells us that the car has never been apart. This being said, the wing piping is not 'standard', being a rather nice aluminium moulding in the shape of a shallow M. Somebody thought that they had seen this piping on earlier Jowetts and maybe on Bradfords. Somebody else thought on Fords of the period. Does this ring a bell with anybody? We can reuse the existing but are short about 25 cm.

Another thing is that there are 25mm holes on each side of the bulk head, on the horizontal section, which we are sure were factory made. The car was sold new in France, and there were never semiphores fitted, so we are speculating that there lights here, possibly indicator lights as per the early 2CV cars. Anybody got a thought on this?
Regards Vic

My jup had a similar hole on one side for a radio aerial; so could be they put one on either side (but unlikely); also possibly for wing mirrors.
