Hello,
I have just replaced the oil in my CC gearbox (it was drained for transport purposes), added as per manual 1½ pints (=700ml). Checked the dipstick and the oil is right up to the top, way past the "Fulll" mark. Something not right here.
Has anyone any experience of the matter?
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Gearbox oil
It is a pending job on my CB , different gearbox but the manual says the same 1.5 pints. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hello Andrew,
Perhaps an email to P.B. the Bradford registrar will be of help.
He's in the list of officers in the inside page of the Jowetteer magazine.
Tony.

Re: Gearbox oil
I did the same and found the gearbox leaked oil at the rear, so I dropped the level to full on the dipstick, fixed the leaking.
I have done over 5000 miles with it like this with no issues, actually it would be due for an oil change now.
I am not sure if the amount in the manual is incorrect or not, I have never looked into it any further.

Re: Gearbox oil
I've referred the matter to Paul Beaumont and he agrees the 1.5 pint figure for the CC gearbox is definitely wrong, though this figure is universally quoted in the literature. He is looking into whether there is a Jowett Technical Bulletin on the subject.
Meanwhile I filled my gearbox to the "Full" mark and it took 500ml.
I don't have a CA/CB gearbox to check the figure, someone else will have to do that.
