Am thinking of fitting low level air filter to my Javelin.
With the old filters disconnected my engine seems to have more power and easier starting
I believe this was done on the Jupiter if so are these filters still available
Thanks..

Re: Javelin carbs
I replaced the oil bath filter with two 8 inch x2 inch annular filter elements surrounding the holes in the plywood filter box.
It worked OK but very noticeable bark on throttle.
After a long trip to Le Mans I put back the original, suitably cleaned and refilled with thin oil. Silence again.

Re: Javelin carbs
I'd just like to reinforce Keith's post. The Javelin carbs are unfortunately in a rather dirty place so putting the air filters down there is not a particularly good idea. I know the Jupiter is like that, but funnily enough most owners of sports cars in the 50s seemed content with inefficient filtering, believing it enhanced performance. An oil bath is far superior. I had a Javelin that came to me with K&N sports filters. The inside of the carb was dirty and the intake noise was just unpleasant.
