There is water in the boot of my 53 Javelin after rain. It seems the seal around the rear window has perished, cracked and letting in water which seeps through to the boot.
Before I have a go at obtaining and replacing the seal any advice would be very welcome.
Cheers Anthony

You need to carefully remove the chrome strip as good replacement are difficult to find.
New rubber is available from JCS.
Once removed you will probably find rust which will need attention.

This shows some of the fitting.

Re: 53 rear window leak
Hello Anthony.
A quick fix is perhaps possible, but it's not for the purist.
The rear window on my 1934 saloon was leaking, so I went round the glass/body join with two lengths of masking tape leaving about 7mm space between them.
I then used black Sikkaflex sealant 221, wiped it around with my finger and left it a few minutes.
Then I removed the masking tape VERY carefully (the Sikkaflex is rather sticky stuff and can get anywhere without due care) following this with wetting my finger a number of times to achieve a smooth finish.
My car's rear window doesn't have a chrome strip, or even a rubber insert, it's only glass to body, so it was probably a much easier job on the pre-war.
Anyway, I think you can get Sikkaflex from places such as Screwfix, but have a look at https://www.uksealants.co.uk/sikaflex-2 ... R8QAvD_BwE
Tony.
P.S there are different types and colours of Sikkaflex sealants as you will see.

Re: 53 rear window leak
The rear window is pretty straight forward if you take your time - Once you have carefully removed the trim - (Do not strain the trim removing it) - then the window - clean the glass & aperture up then fit the new rubber around the glass - place to the aperture and you can hook the rubber through and over the aperture lip from the inside - you will need to apply a popper oil based windscreen sealant (NOT Sikaflex / Silicone / Tigerseal or a PU based product) - This is what I use
https://www.dortechdirect.co.uk/arbomas ... reens.html
Apply to both body to rubber & rubber to glass - then carefully replace the trim which slots into the rubber - then clean it all up and refit the interior trim
