OUTDOORS COVER

Post by ant »

I'm forced to use a cover for my Javelin as it has to be outside for a while.
Any recommendations very welcome.
Cheers

The best would be a Carcoon but you will need a power source.
Before you put it away give it a polish , especially the chrome. Also give it a waxoil in the doors, sills and under body. If you can rig up a thermostatic fan heater or dehumidifier inside the car .

Do not under any circumstances go down the cheap route - they are useless - Purchase a good quality cover and you will be provided with many tie points to ensure that the wind does not get under the cover and tear it / or have it abrade against the paintwork - I would also check that the cover is fire resistant (not all of them are) I'm aware of at least one of our members very nearly losing an expensive car when the cover caught fire - A breathable cover is a very good idea and prevents any condensation from forming whilst the car is covered.

Finally Waxoyl, personally I don't use it - The product is marketed without any significant laboratory or field testing - 'Dinatrol' is the product to use over any other rust prevention measures - Please don't hesitate to post should you require any further information on rust prevention products

The chap next door has just bought a cover for his BMW from Screwfix.
It looks substantial, but I have no other experience of it.
