Jowett 10 radiator

Post by nigel jarrett »

I am noticing that the Jowett 10 appears to be running a tad hot , temp gauge will read up to 90 deg C will then slowly drop to about 85deg .I have tested the water temp against the gauge reading and is good , cooling system and rad have been flushed and appear ok .
Now the question I have is that under the rad filler cap is what looks like a overflow tube with a ball and spring in it ,which appears to have not enough tension to close ,does anyone know if this is correct ,
I always thought that the thermo symphon system ran with no pressure ,or does it run with a low pressure .
The car does not require topping up once it has found its level
have just purchased a javilin and will need all the help i can get
