Dynamo wires

Post by k. rogers »

There are 2 wires exiting the top of the dynamo, one from the third brush and one from the field coil. Can anyone tell me to which posts they should go on the cut-out? I've looked at several wiring diagrams and it isn't clear on any of them, in fact on one of them they both appear to go to the same post which can't be right!

Hi Ken.
You don't say what year the vehicle is.
On my 1933 and 1934 12 volt cars, if I remember correctly there are three wires coming out of the little bakelite ferrule on top of the dynamo.
One is a thick wire which I think goes to +D, the other two are joined together and work the F1 and F2 positions on the PLC switch, and these go to the F1 (middle) terminal on the cut-out.
There are other Jowetteers that understand auto-electrics. I do not, so you're really on your own.

Thanks Tony, you've answered my question. Yes, you're correct, 2 of them are joined together and you have now told me which way around they go!
