..
I'm restoring a 1935 Kestrel and have notice that the bottom mounting brackets on the radiator have much larger holes than bolt hole in chassis, does anyone know if this is just for adjustment or was radiator originally mounted on rubber bushes or similar?

I have always thought that this is to allow for adjustment and alignment of the bonnet. I always use a larger penny washer under the bolt head. Am I right in thinking you live quite local to me in Cornwall?

Hello Mark.
I'll bet that that Ken and Nigel are correct.
A rubber bush, or washer may insulate the radiator somewhat from the chassis when going over potholes.
After all the radiator is soldered together, not welded.
Perhaps Nylock nuts, or something similar will help to keep the bolts in place if you don't use the metal tubes.

Am I to assume that this original request came from somebody not yet in the Jowett Club?
