Radial Tyres

Post by Alan Stanley »

Many Club members here in NZ are running Bridgestone or Fulkan 175/80/R16 radials on their Javelins, Juoiter Bradfords etc. They are half the price of new crossplys and give better performance. It seems that these may no longer be made and so we are seeking input on the availablity (and pricing) of radial tyres outside New Zealand.

What radials if any are Jowett owners using in UK, Australia, or USA?

Longstone tyres have the moulds for several old radial tyres and every so often have batches of 100 made
I just bought some Pirelli cinturatos for the abbott jupiter but at the moment i do not have the size but I will look tomorrow and report back
Ipaid about £100 each including fitting and balancing and I am really pleased with them because they look period correct and they are not too fat like the black cab tyres
Another bonus is that they fit very nicely in the jupiter wheel locker without having to struggle
I will get details of the company as the owner is a racing enthusiast and loves to do a deal

As promised I checked my tyre strangely it is marked in english as 550x16 then in continental as 175x80
If you google Longstone classic tyres all the details are there including an almost porno picture !!!
