Distributor drive shaft
With the oil pump drive all timed up I went to change the distributor drive shaft to find the 2 spare shafts have the drive slot 90 deg different to my original shaft if I carry on I take it I will have to retire the distributor and move the leads ,has anyone ever come across this difference ,my Javelin is a 1949 PA
have just purchased a javilin and will need all the help i can get

Yes there are two types of shaft. They are interchangeable so you have two options. Swap the shaft or move the leads around. This is one reason I use a cap with plug in leads as it is a quick job to change the leads one position around. It also helps isolate an ignition lead problem. Plus the leads have a better water seal.
