Re: Nz Rally 2020 Friday to Monday, April 3, 4, 5, 6, 2020
A small group of Jaffas wanted to see if there was anything south of Auckland. We
keep hearing that there are sights to see and people we would want to meet. Couldn't
really believe this possibility, so we thought .... Where haven't we been for a rally —
and where would be the most unlikely place to go? Where would be most central? And
we found this spot on the highway. Could you believe it? Taihape the Gumboot Town!
Where it doesn’t matter if it's wet — your feet would stay dry. It wouldn’t matter.......
l’ll stop now. Get the picture?
Start planning now for a weekend with like-minded Jowett owners from all over the
country. We hope also overseas Jowett members will combine this event with a New
Zealand holiday. For those that have not been before I will outline what this rally is
about. Some have taken on massive restorations — others tweaking here and there.
This rally is traditionally a run that is the highlight of your Jowett year and a goal
for many. The agenda starts on Friday night with a meet and greet at the Motel. The
AGM is going to be held in a venue that will delight anyone who takes a drop of two
occasionally or more....(no, not a pub!)
Saturday will be the Concours — a time to show off your Jowett — and have it
judged against the other members for trophies. Then off to a lodge for lunch followed
by the gymkhana, where we are free to run whatever crazy car gymnastics we can
dream up.
A Saturday night dinner and entertainment that will have you toe tapping with
delight. Sunday – what else could we have – but a gumboot throwing competition
followed by a quiz tour through the town. For the more technically minded after lunch,
a bit of drooling at vehicles and engines from other marques. Sunday night is a little
up market – with dinner and awards.
Monday morning is a breakfast and people are off on their journey back home or off
on holiday to see many more awesome sights. We will provide you with brochures of
scenic spots around Taihape that we have no time to fit in. Register now.
