I have spent much of the last year creating some new member services. The prototype was demonstrated at the last JCC executive meeting. They have now gone live. To reach them click the 'Members' button in the top left of jowett.net
You first need to register for the services which checks your email address and provided this is the same as in the members list you will be able to see some great new services.
The members' map has been updated to allow you to easily identify those offering each of the first aid services or new members. Please have a look.
There is also a search facility that helps find members who live close to you. Or you can use it to organise an event.
There is also a step by step interactive joining form that you can direct potential new members towards. PayPal is available to joining members.
To renew your membership you can click a few buttons and even pay with the new club PayPal system. You can also check and amend your membership details. Note that details are now not sent by email (or snail mail) to further improve security.
The vehicle register has also been improved but awaits updating all the data. Any changes or additions are logged so that no data is lost and a history can be built up.
A lot of new stuff has been added behind the scenes. Security has been strengthened with sensitive data being encrypted and session control being given increased checks. There is also a facility so if your session terminates you can restart where you left off. This does require you to enter a password when you first activate the session and of course remember it. But if you do not, you can just start a new session by re registering.
Please try out the services. i am still in the process of adding new services and you may find a few issues which I would be grateful if you could report to me.
Major update to Member Services.

Step by step guide. Registering
Click this link to start jowett.net home page
Click 'Members'
Read and click 'Register and validate email'
Read , click consent and enter details. Then click 'VerifyEmail'
Use the email address that is in the membership list.
Wait for response screen. Please check response and then go to your email inbox. You should have an email with an activation link. Click on this. This will check your activation key has not expired after 10 minutes and then ask if you want to save a password so you can restart your session should it terminate. At this stage it is a good idea to save this page as a bookmark but ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT ON A SHARED COMPUTER. This will allow you to click on the bookmark rather than finding the email with the activation link in it. Once you have entered the password which you can remember, click on 'InputPassword' Click on 'Menu' will then check your email address in the membership lists and display appropriate options for which you have permission to access.
Here is an example for a JCC Ltd member, it will be different for other club's members, administrators and those joining a club. This particular screen shows a member who has just renewed and the administrator has confirmed receipt of membership subscription. It also warns that the telephone number they used for session activation does not agree with that in the membership list.

Joining the club and adding to the vehicle register
The previous post showed how to register for a session and if you are a member what is displayed in the menu.
If you are not a member then the menu will look something like this, giving you the option to join the club ( either on-line and using PayPal or using a form to email). The webpage also shows what other services are available to you. Clicking the 'Join' button starts displaying a sequence of screens to take you through the joining process.
Step 9. Takes the input from the registration process and asks you to validate it. After you have 'Checked' the data you can click 'Next' which will create a membership record for you that you can come back to at any time and update. This record is used by officers of the club. Step 8. Asks for your address which can be input using the Google geo-location system, which helps validate the address. But you can input it all manually. Click 'Accept' if you want to use the results of the geolocation system or click return to enter manually. If you do the later the address will be flagged as not verified and will have to be checked by the administrator. Step 7. Asks for type of membership. Step 6 . Does our section and First Aid scheme Step 5. Does payment and gives a PayPal webpag if you have chosen that method. Emails are sent to notify officers of payment and joining request. Step 4. Vehicle details screens allow you to search for details about your car that are already known and add to them. Links to pictures may be added and these can be on JowettTalk as attachments , perhaps in the section 'MyJowett Experiences' You can see another record has been added to the vehicle register, thus building up a history of the car. Registrars will be notified of any vehicle detail changes.
