Jowett Embroidery

H all

This is only my 2nd post to the forum.

I'm a bit of a car freak and at the ripe 'ole age of 55 I should be over it! But, 2 years ago I took delivery of my most radical car!! An Ariel Atom.

This is my daily drive

Anyway, before I purchased my Atom I joined the owner's club to help me 'spec' mine. It became apparent there was a need for embroidered clothing and as my partner Angie was into this sort of thing, we thought we'd have a go at fulfilling the need.

We went in head first and spent a fortune on an industrial embroidery machine. The learning curve for me in particular was huge but with hours of practice each night, we're now able to turn out some great designs. It's like an extension of my passion for cars.

So, some kind chap from a classic car forum sent me a couple of pictures of the Jowett logo and I produced the following:

This is a design of the Jowett Javelin. My father used to own one, hence the interest.

And finally, here's a few I've finished for other marques.

I'm concentrating on 'classics' at the moment as the Welsh Classic Car Show is on 11th May.

Forgot to mention. If anyone has any reasonable images of other Jowett 'badges' or any other car for that matter, please do let me know or better still, email them to me john at stitch-up dot biz

Hi John,
Lovely design and workmanship. I particularly like the Javelin one.
Are you just doing them as badges or supplied already on shirts, etc ?
I would certainly buy from you.
I think the Jowett Javelin one would look good on the front of a baseball cap.
No one at the shows seems to do any Jowett stuff. Also you can get mugs with just about any car in the world on them except Jowetts.
I have done some with computer printed waterslide transfers but they're a bit susceptable to washing even with three coats of acrylic varnish. I wish I was 55 again...still, nice to see that , like the rest of us, you're growing old disgracefully !

My dad had a Jowett Javelin hence the reason for doing that particular design.

Yes, we can provide these items on all sorts of clothing, the most popular being polo, sweat and rugby shirts. Also fleeces and dare I say it hoodies are popular too

We can also produce mugs - we use a heat press process which is very robust. Also decals and much more.

Makes us sound like a big commercial venture doesn't it? Actually, we work from our conservatory, both have full time jobs etc.

I'm not sure regarding the copyright situation just at the moment. I have sent the shop an email and await their reply.

PS Do you have or can you tell me where I might find other Jowett badges i.e. the Jupiter?

Hello John,

Our shop is gently slumbering untill we can find a new shop keeper, hence no reply.

I don't know the copyright situation, but I suspect somebody like Geoff Wills might know the situation, please come forward somebody who knows.

We have a rally in Crieff in Scotland coming up at the end of May, and if you can overcome the copyright situation if it needs overcoming then you could easily have hundreds of potential customers.

There are two Jupiter badges. One is essentially the same as the Jowett Javelin one but saying Jowett Jupiter (surprise!!) but the other from the earlier cars says Javelin Jupiter in the same text and format as the other two badges. When I get the chance I will take a picture of my bonnet badge and send it to you.

There is also an early Javelin badge which someone should be able to send you. I have access to one but its 125 miles away at the moment.

The other script you might want to try is for all the pre war officianado's and I am e-mailing it to the address you supplied.

Looks nice work, I personally would be interested in mugs but would probably fall foul of MOQ and set up charges, would I?

Thanks for the message and info on the badges.

Last things first p we don't have any minimum quantities for an order, mugs or shirts. For the mugs I just need the picture(s) you want on them.

When I'm at work I quite often need access to my main computer at home and use Logmein free - it's reall excellent.

Belay that last post. My e-mail says I sent it at 19:31:02 and forum admin sent me an e-mail saying you had posted at 19:41:24 thats 10 minutes 22 seconds, to get the e-mail download the attachment feed it into your embroidery machine select cloth and silks make the machine work, remove it scan it attach it upload it to the forum and included is the time for the forum to realise that it had had a post and send me an e-mail.

Are you sure you aren't a multi national conglomerate using the entire workforce of mainland China?

The other 2 Jowett patterns took much longer! Off & on they took me 2 weeks to do.

How big a Jowett Script could you do, as am just chatting with another member and we think they'd look awesome on the back of our overalls, but it would need to be a decent size.

If you mean across the back between the shoulders, that shouldn't be a problem.

If you plan ob supplying the overalls, just a word of caution! Sometimes things do go wrong, a needle snap or the machine decides to do it's own thing

The results are not pretty. If on the other hand we supply the clothing, when things go pear shaped, we just chuck it in the bin & start again.

Don't be to alarmed, it doesn't happen often but you need to be aware of it.

Hi there,

It is good to know that we have competition!

Down here in the Severnside Section of the Club, we have recently started to provide a range of clothing to members with the Jowett badge embroidered onto the item, mostly on the left breast area.

These sold well at the last National Rally, and we hope to have a further range for sale at this year's Rally at Crieff.

Our range of clothing covers overalls, polo shirts, baseball hats, fleeces and gillets, plus much more on request.

I wish John at 'Stitchup' every success, as this all helps to promote our club and the marque which, increasingly, seems to be slipping out of the national classic car movement's memory.

Hi guys

Just popping back to resurrect an old post!

If it's of any use to the forum or members, we recently invested in a special printer for creating multi-coloured decals. In addition to printing colours this printed can also print metallic foils e.g. silver, chrome, gold, copper, titanium to name a few.
