Javelin for sale. Gloucester

Post by PAUL BEAUMONT »

Picked this up on the Oldclassiccar forum site: Not sure if its advertised anywhere else. I have no connection with, or knowledge of the vendor.

"For Sale 1953 - Jowett Javelin Deluxe Model

My Grandfather has recently passed away & we need to sell his Jowett Javelin. Unfortunately he never quite finished restoring the car. It just needs re-spraying.

Manufactured in Bradford in the 1950's, they only brought out 2 models one being the Javalin. It was a head of its time as it could reach 80 mph.

The chassis and engine number are the same. My Grandfather was a machinist & reconditioned the engine himself. There is no rust on the car, its in excellent condition.

I am located in Gloucestershire, if you would like me to email you some pictures please email Russell.brown -at- tesco.net. Anyone is welcome to come & view the car.

We are looking for £2000 or make me an offer.

Thank you for looking

Russell (tel: 07779 975451)"

Hello Paul

I believe your post and this one http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=625 are one and the same. The point of interest is that the engine number and chassis number are the same. I went to see the vehicle about 6 months ago.
Compliments of the Season,

This thread has now taken an ebay turn. I do know the vendor but am just passing links and data on to you all. I am not benefitting from this association.

Hi Alastair. Noticed the Ebay entry myself last night!
I was also making a mention of Oldclassiccar.com. I fell over the site by accident a few months ago and found it denuded of Jowetts. Reading comments about the profile of the club etc elsewhere maybe a few more of us should be involved here too! That way we come to the attention of the wider circle of Classic owners and maybe dilute the Yanks etc on the site. That said there is an interesting theme at present on an Alldays and Onions! (nothing to do with "Hells Kitchen"!)
