ConRod Big Ends?

Post by AlanBartlett »

I was asking around at the national about how or why a conrod could become stiff, some said that I had put them on the wrong way round, So tonite I switched them round and now they are both moving freely but are quite loose in sideways movement it moves like 1 - 2 mm is this normal?

Pretty much I believe!
Rods and caps need to be matched both with their respective partner and in orientation. It is a good plan to mark parts with a centre punch or similar with a code that you recognise, as each part will be individual - especially on a white metalled engine.
