Almost forgot, the 7 wheels that have been cleaned (at considerable expense too !) + a radiator minus the badge, unfortunately.
ORME EVANS & Co. Radiator No. 288.
Hopefully someone can date this from this number, please.

This is really difficult - it certainly enough of a car to deserve a restoration and has some residual value has a kit of parts - however restoration costs even to the home restorer are far going to outweigh the value of the vehicle when completed but that is par for the course when restoring vehicles of a lower value - so a dedicated & experienced home restorer whom could undertake most of the rebuild work mechanically would still probably have to expend something in the region of £5,000 on parts, materials & machining in order to get to the stage of a restored chassis in addition to this radiator restoration would have to be outsourced and costs of £1,000 - £1,500 would be expected, tyres another £1,200 - then you need a ash frame built & clad - expect to pay £6,000 - £8,000 for this - paintwork if you can achieve this at home then great but if not it's another £2,500 to outsource it to a professional, trim & hood are basic but probably require outsourcing again and expect a £2,000 - £3,000 invoice for it, then come all the little bits - chrome, instruments, sundries, trims, fastenings, finishing touches etc they all add up and before you know it - it's another £2,500 expended - so before you know it you are heading to the £24,000 mark - ok you may save some money here and there but even the most frugal of restorers would be hard pressed to complete this project for less than £15,000 and that is before you have purchased the car - cost of sending the car in this state for a professional restoration start to finish would be £35,000 - £50,000 - The £2,000 asking price if the car was in the UK is a probably a fairish asking price but the shipping cost from Australia is probably in excess of another £1,000 + any taxes & import duties and therefore will probably dismiss any interested party on this side of the water. It's a shame but the pre war car market has been depressed for a few years with dealers struggling to move stock of all marques - currently there are a couple of Jowett Long 4's for sale in the market - privately - both well restored, well presented & on the button at around the £15,000 price band, there is also a Short 2 again well restored but struggling to sell for some time now at just under £20,000. Projects for sale ultimately need to have the work required to complete the project reflected in the pricing of them and not the amount of money that has been expended on them prior to the sale - although this does become a selling factor. Unfortunately the shipping cost when added to the sale price will factor out the vast majority of interested parties in the UK. I don't want to rain on your parade has so to speak and I hope that you can find a purchaser - you are correct when you state that you believe that the UK is best place for the car due to the resources available here. On the upside it would give a new owner the perfect opportunity to have the car built to their own specification, body style & colour choice.
