Hardi Fuel Pumps

Post by David Morris »

Hi all,

I have used Hardi solid-state electric fuel pumps on my Javelin for several years. Whilst they are good, my experience to date on their reliability has not been great. Suffice to say that I am now on my third! The two previous ones just stopped working suddenly. I put my third in last week.

Now with two apparently 'duff' pumps on the shelf, I decided to investigate. The fault seems to be identical, they just ceased working. No 'beating' at all.

My beefy battery charger has an 'off-load' output voltage of around 18v. I decided to apply this to one of the duff pumps on the bench. A 'flash' on the terminals, and grunt from the pump, then off she went, beating as usual. I tried the same trick on the second one, with the same result. So, it seems that they get 'stuck' ? I must now try them with conventional 12v and see if they still work well?

Anyone else experienced this?

Hope the Rally is going well?

David
