Re: Website maintenance
Week 10th -17th April .
As part of our longstanding effort to keep our servers fast and reliable, the server hosting jowett.net is scheduled for maintenance this upcoming week in the evening (Mountain Time Zone UTC-07:00). We'll be increasing server uptime and improving overall performance. Plan on about 15 minutes of downtime while the system is rebooted.
Please be assured we are doing everything possible to make this a smooth transition.

Re: Website down
The website has moved to a new hosting provider. This was brought about by the incumbent raising prices so I shopped around and got a much better deal. I had been planning to move next year as the new services which are planned needed more resources. I had to work overnight to get the transfer complete (125000 files) before the previous contract expired. The transfer was fairly complex as I had to get the site working before I could apply for a new security certificate. This is issued by Go Daddy and not Comodo, so do not be alarmed if you have noticed the change.
I also hit a few problems whilst testing the site as the transfer screwed up some of the files. Luckily I had downloaded the files to my PC and was able to restore them with a checking program. Finally in getting the site working I had had to install using the insecure protocol http and not https. This caused a problem when displaying the Gallery window when the site eventually went over to secure. Luckily I saw the issue after putting the Gallery in DEBUG mode and was able to fix it.
The host is now in Europe rather than Utah so response is better in Europe but it may also be better elsewhere as the hardware is newer. Please let me know.
Of course if you detect any issues please let me know. As before, you may have to clear cookies and change links to get to the new site. But probably not . Please let us know if you had to.
I still have to check out the mail system not only for Jowett.net but also for Jowett.org, JowettJupiter.com, Jowett.club and JowettCarClub.net all of which are now hosted on the new system. But for now I am going to enjoy some sunshine and then fettle some carbs in the garage.
