I'm the guy from Shuttleworth who had Ted Allen kindly post my query.
Here's some pictures of the Zenith 30H carb fitted to the Shuttleworth Jowett and the 22H I found amongst the junk. If you look closely you can see the plate that's changed the orientation of the fixing holes. We've decided the model number defines the choke diameter in mm and 'H' a horizontal draught. We've measured the internal diameter of the inlet manifold at the mounting at 25mm. Page 12 of this document would indicate that no carburettor with a choke greater than 26mm was ever fitted: http://jowett.org/jowettnet/dt/tech/jti/pw.pdf

Here's some pictures of the oil breather. There was no evidence of a 'star stiffening plate' as mentioned on page 11 of the previous document. I'd appreciate any picture, diagram or description of this item. http://tinyurl.com/nr7lear http://tinyurl.com/o5x3ywx http://tinyurl.com/owkmov8

Re: 1926 Jowett type C
Just going back over a few copies of The Automobile and it reminded me (June '15, page 64) that I would like more information on the 1927 8hp Jowett in the Caister Castle Collection.
That radiator shell is surely 1930, and 8hp cars were introduced in 1937 I think (The Complete Jowett History).
So, what is it? Engine/chassis numbers would help, and is that a fabric or coachbuilt body?
Anyone been to Caister? Looks like a good 'show' catering for many tastes (in cars and motorbikes anyuway).

The devil is in the detail!
