Nick - The car changed hands for £4,000 - I think there will be commision + vat on the hammer price which would take the price up to £4,705 - which is fair money for a decent Jav - this car was also the Jav that appeared in the film 'Vera Drake'

I was aware this was the "Vera Drake" car and it has either changed hands a lot since the film or perhaps not sold when it has been advertised. It was on Ebay some considerable while back. I'm afraid this auction was on the other side of the country and just too far to go on spec, especially since I considered that the film connection was likely to put a premium on the price. In fact, possibly it did not because it appears to have sold below estimate. Pictures I have seen would indicate it is not absolutely top notch. I have my eye out for a good PD or perhaps PE Javelin.

This is probably not 'news' as such but I have just returned from a holiday in North and South Devon and between the two I managed to squeeze in a visit to the Mortonhampstead Motor Museum in the middle(ish) of Dartmoor.
This is a private collection, open to the public in the old fire station there, of about 70 vehicles dating from 1905, via WWI and WWII survivors to more recent models mostly 50's and 60's but including the 'Vera Drake' Javelin.
It is a 1952 model, light green and apparently in running - but not often run - order. Last outing apparently about 2 years ago.
It is quite tidy but there is a nasty 'ding' in the NSF door and the dashboard - wooden so de Luxe - appears to me to be non-original, but nice.
Anybody local enough to make a visit to show the old girl is not yet forgotten? How about a Section meeting there, I think the proprietor might be amenable.
