Trying to trace a car
Hello everyone,
My name is Richard and am trying to trace a Jupiter that my father once owned, my father is long gone now, but his car still survives I see ( some extensive googling has found me many photos mainly from this site) and was wondering if it is still in the UK. The reg number is NKD 258, it was red ( and still is according to the photos I have) , I am not getting any younger ( aren't we all) and wish to see this car before I leave this planet... I have a photo of me aged about 3 standing on the drivers seat holding the steering wheel. I have always had an affinity with classic cars for some reason , firstly with old Triumphs then latterly building my own Lotus 7 replica ( something else my father had ).
If anyone knows where NKD 258 is, can you please post and if its still in the UK , may I see the car...
Many thanks for reading.
Richard.

If you can make it to Watford I will entertain you! You contact me before you intend to come down.
NaKereD has had a hard life since it left your dad's ownership having towed a Campavan for many years, raced and rallied in 27 countries and never been off the road for more than a few months and never been rebuilt , just fixed up many, many times.

LOL NaKereD... I see what you did there....
Thats great thanks, I guess its gioing to be when the weather picks up.. but I really cant wait.
My dad only sold the car when I came along and it was replaced with a Citroen DS21, had no luck tracing that car so I assume it scrapped.
Will contact you in the very near future.
Thank you so much.
Richard.

Re: Trying to trace a car
Wouldn't it be easier to meet up at the NW rally in May? Even if NKD isn't there, we can certainly arrange a lift in one of the dozens of Jupiters Richard, don't know if Keith is at the rally but there will certainly be some who can pass on copies of any history and photos to Keith and the Jupiter registrar who will certainly be interested.

Hi Jack,
Where are your NW meets held ? , I will bob along in May then, I do however need to see NKD, it's rather a personal quest to be honest and something I feel I have to do, its a long story and a very personal one at that................. It would be great if NKD could be at the NW meet, but I appreciate that it's a hell of a run from down south to up here, so in fairness I don't mind the trip.
Thank goodness for the internet and its way of getting lost things found.
Richard.

Hell of run, not for NKD . Josephine is her proper name, and she takes TOPIC 13 countries in 21 days in her stride, thinks nothing of a trip to the Saharaand has been from Lands End to John O Groatsin the toughest classic car rally. She was in Blackpool a few yearrs ago after belting around the Isle of Man.

Now back to my welding after lunch break!

That is a great photo Keith, can I say on behalf of my late father, thank you for using the car as it was designed... that is 'use' it... I must have picked up some of the car based genes from him as I too prefer to ' use' cars instead of just looking at them.

The particular meet is the National Rally held every year in a different location around the country. It is usually the biggest gathering of Jowetts each year, and we all try whenever we can to be there to show off the cars, meet old friends and have a drink or two (after we've finished driving for the day!!!)
Bit more info in the thread here: http://jowett.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3359 however the detail is basically that the club will be at Lyme Park, on Saturday 23rd May where we will have the static display and Concours http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/lyme-park/ - though if you are in the area most cars will be out for a drive on Sunday 24th too, I'm sure we can arrange a lift for you if you'd like.
Probably one to sort direct with Keith specifically on seeing NKD, I'm sure you can work out a time and place if not the rally above.
Jack.
