Practical Classics Articles

Post by M S G Benning »

Happened to purchase (or rather Mr B dropped in the trolley!!) the June edition of Practical Classics. Along with the report on the Resto Show - well done all involved - there is an article on page 57 by Nick Larkin about age & committee /membership etc., I urge all those on JowettTalk to read, whichever way you choose this article & I'm sure it will spark another debate! :D
Those that are going to Redworth have a safe trip & see you there. Steph 8)

Steph - It's very rewarding when we see the club gaining the national publicity that it rightly deserves - we have for year in - year out gone about doing what we do in the club - but only until recently have we started to hit the headlines - no blame on anyone what so ever attached here - its just that the way in which to attract media attention is so very different from what it was ten years ago. The article regarding the demographic of club committees makes several very worthy points and we all need to understand how we can continue to support OUR club and ensure that it continues to support future generations of Jowett owners. Finally and thanks to some excellent behind the scenes work by Jack - said edition of Practical Classics will be appearing your rally packs at Darlington.

Worth a follow up perhaps, after Practical Classics kindly gave us over 100 copies of the magazine to go in the rally packs, we have seen the following articles and features from them:

June 2014 - Restoration Show coverage above
July 2014 - Howard Bryan collection Jupiter features
September 2014 - Feature on new PC Javelin handover
November 2014 - Javelin Engine Autopsy

And all this before we really start to see the focus on the Javelin project, and at zero cost to the club - the team have a number of cars which are ongoing restoration projects, hopefully we will see a lot more from their car over the winter and into 2015.

This is just one magazine, and their appetite for all things Jowett seems almost insatiable, even after features in Nov 2013, and many of the small photos and news pieces inbetween. What more could we do? What else can we get into the news and promote the cars, the club and what we are doing?

All this and more we can hope will be the focus of the AGM in just a few days time - the future of the club, promoting what we are fundamentally about, and capturing the imagination of potential new owners, members and friends.

Jack.
