Jowett in Zimbawe.
Dear Keith,
Bought my Jowett Jav in 1951 in Bradford. Brought car back to Africa where I still have it. Am interested in selling vehicle. Please contact giving details of anyone that I may make contact with.
Will send you a photo and more information. I live in Zimbabwe - Africa and our internet connections are not what they should be. I will however send you as much information as I can in the forthcoming days. I bought the car in 1951 in Idle, Yorkshire - I especially made the trip from Rhodesia as it was then all the way to Yorkshire as I so wanted this Jowett. I drove her round Europe and then shipped her off back to the African Continent. I drove her from Cape Town to Rhodesia and there she has stayed. Lots of history on her - I also raced her in the Jowett Racing Team that was set up here in those days run by a chap by the name of LES TEMPEST, a Yorkshire Lad. I have wonderful history on this splendid motor car. I ave also visited the Jowett Museum in Bradford and was a member of the Jowett Club for a very short time, as politically it was inpossible for me to continue with the annual subs.\
I look forward to hearing from you once again.
Sincerely,
ZACK MERDJAN.

This has really got me thinking about John Blankley's London to Cape Town trip in his old Austin. Now who is up for flying out to pick this up and drive it back to Blighty? After all we can now go all the way without ship or plane.
Alternatively we could drive my Subaru out to use as a support vehicle on the way back. We only have to negotiate a few rebel natives on the way; but a few bags of sweets, Biro's or cigarettes normally placates them!

Dear Keith,
Since we are only on dial up here in this part of the world, it is difficult as we are "on-line" all the time and a lot of the time, we have no power!!! I have however now taken a couple of shots of the "Elderly Lady" and I will attach them herewith. As you will see she is still "a beauty"! Would love to keep in touch with you and I am very interested to hear about the East African Rally.
Kindest regards,
Zack Merdjan.

Forgive me, I have been a little waylaid due to power cuts and problems with server etc., but I am sending some photos of my "Elderly Lady" who has been attracting quite a lot of attention since I moved her out of the garage and put her in the carport in our front garden. People that come to visit are in awe of her!
Hope that the photos help and I would be very grateful for feed back on the East African Rally.
We leave to go back to Cape Town next week on the 20th February, we spend three months down there and three months here in Zimbabwe.
Sincerely,
ZACK MERDJAN

Hello Zack, I could be interested in the Javelin, but there are many buts!! I cannot open the photos yet, will see who can help me with that. As a first step, could you try to get in contact with either of my brothers, Charles or Clive BODDY. They run the crocodile bussiness in Kariba. They can definitely help me with issues relating to getting the car to the coast in Mozambique or where ever else. Thanks Vic
