CROFT NOSTALGIA WEEKEND - 2ND/3RD August 2014
Everyone has heard of Goodwood and their nostalgic gatherings with historic racing etc. but
you may not have heard of the northern equivalent, namely, The Croft Nostalgia Weekend.
This event has been running for several years and holds its own unique place in the northern
This year the organisers are happy to invite Jowetts to the event and provided we can
arrange for a minimum of 10 cars on each of the two days we can have our own dedicated
Jowett area. ADMISSION IS FREE FOR EARLY APPLICANTS WITH A JOWETT . If you are
interested in attending please contact Mike Smailes or Angus Bell for an entry form as soon
as possible as we need get ourselves organised.
Over the two days there will be continuous historic car racing, displays of military vehicles
and militaria, period bicycles and motorcycles and numerous stalls. Last year there was a
flying display and even a couple of tanks which fired blanks at each other!
Period dress is encouraged and on the Saturday evening there is a dance in the marquee
with a '40's style dance band.
Croft Circuit is six miles south of Darlington and is within easy reach of the Yorkshire
Dales and North York Moors National Parks. We would be happy to help those seeking

Re: Croft 2nd 3rd August 2014
What a good weekend this was.
I went up part way on Friday and stayed with Howard and Jackie Bryan.
Howard and I arrived on Saturday morning and were greeted by Mike Smailes and Angus and Sylvia Bell at the prominently placed Jowett stand. Racing was pretty good and quite exciting when a massive downpour filled the track with standing water. Quite glad I had declined the camping and barn dance in the evening and opted for the hotel and meal organised by Howard for 11 Jowetteers.
A lot was discussed including spares and conference calling which no doubt will have seperate topics dedicated to them on this forum.
It was great to see Barbara and David Peacock on Sunday. The weather was good and the period dress came out. It is rightly billed as the Goodwood Revival of the North and will only get better. So make sure you go next year.
Howard offerred me a bed for Sunday night so that I could see the last race and not spend another 6 or 7 hours travelling home. As it happens, the run down on Monday was a breeze with all the hold ups on the other side of the road. I even had time to divert to friends in Rugby.
TOPIC Lots of pictures here in the JowettGallery
Saturday

Sunday.

The gazebo took off in the wind, and but for some quick thinking, would have caused a lot of damage to an Alvis with the resultant insurance claim. So be very careful when erecting such in future.

Looks like my engine is getting a bit tired, because I do not think it is rubber smoke.
