Managed to get some time and a decent Internet connection to upload some pics to the Gallery. Not enough time to annotate though!

Ray Win collection
I left David and Judith Homersham's in the hire car and wended my way over the mountains to Nelson seeing beautiful valleys and waterfalls. Passed a dozen classic cars on a tour out of Grey mouth where they had seen a green Javelin.
Had a great evening on the beach before catching up on Internet work.

I met David and Judith Win at the old shed that housed the collection of speedway bikes and Jowetts that Ray had collected. Sid and Fran Bradford were there and had been helping transfer the vehicles to the brand new shed at a transport museum.

Many photos were taken, especially of the CD 2. See TOPIC

Driving up the Desert Road
Leaving Palmerston North in Lorna Johns' Jav we were diverted from a fatal accident on highway 1 along a scenic route to Taupo. I drove along the dessert road to swap to a hire car for the next few days. After lunch found some accommodation where I got a good deal on a 10x20m villa , even the car us garaged. After a hike around the Hupa falls I had an hour in the Jacuzzi and heated up a pizza. So gaining some much needed relaxation. I am catching up on losing a night of sleep listening to Saracens getting to the European final.

On my walkabout again.
It rained and rained last night but sunny today so went back to the falls to see the greater flow. Then a great walk in the thermal area known as Craters of the Moon.

Then a rush to see them open the sluice gates on the dam to see the rapids in full flow.

This I followed with a ride across a lake to see the silica field , mud pools and geysers of Orakei.

Then up to Rotorua.

A day in the sun.
Woke up to blue sky so headed to the best beach in NZ , Ohape.
Then wended my way to three more beaches before settling down to a meal and bed at Gavin and Sharon Armit's beautiful pad and shed. BRADFORD RESTORATION details to follow.

Coast to coast
Yesterday after a good night's sleep at Gavin and Sharon Armit's I strolled along the beach and the climbed Mount Manganui. After that I needed a soak to ease the calf muscles. We then did a beer tasting of a few NZ beers. So then had another good night's sleep.

Driving the Meed
Driven Ivan's Jav and Meed Jup today. Also went to a dozen beaches and had scallops for lunch. Rounded off with evening meal of lamb roast.

Fantastic weather.
Many mods done to the Meed including lowered rear suspension and air shocks that you pump up. The ride is considerably better with no bottoming on bumps. Overdrive fitted behind gearbox and exhaust flowed to 50cm behind normal join.

More pics here. TOPIC

Re: New Zealand Rally 2014
Just checked in, and on my way to airport. Yesterday was action packed with a visit up north to the Hans Compter ' s collection. Then a visit to the shed to meet all the Auckland Jowetteers.

Wandered around Little India but it is steaming hot here so had two cold showers already to try to cool myself down.
Just left a night club with live band.
No Jowetts here but am wearing my JCCA tea shirt just in case!
