Petrol pump refurb

After giving my spare petrol pump to a Jowett taxi last year, mine decided not to come out of hibernation.
I managed to get the car started by forcing some petrol down the line with an air line into the tank (with a cloth stuffed into the filler tube to raise some pressure).
I took off the filter bowl top to the pump and syringed some petrol in there.

I had thrown an AC emergency repair kit in the car to replace the pump given away at Goodwood so decided to refurb the unit. I had replaced the faulty unit with one of my spares. The mucjk inside the filter was clened out first. The replacement pump worked after tightening the filter bowl which had been fitted with a new rubber gasket and inlet union which were both sucking air. Amazing what you can determine by listening carefully with a tube in your ear and manually priming the pump. The refurbed unit is sitting on the bench and will be put in the car for this season.

Forgot to say, I learned how to put the diaphragm back in. You need to stop the lever being pressed down. So I stuffed a screwdriver behind the operating lever whilst pushing the diaphragm in. You need to align the rod so it goes through the u- shaped slot to press on the spring loaded base to open it, so that when you twist the diaphragm through 90deg it slots in and does not come out when released.
I did not have time to get the camera as I wanted to move car before the rain started!
