Bristol Crawler for sale

Post by Chris Gibson »

I happened to get a copy of Tractor & Machinery (July edition) this w/e in which there is an advert for a 1943? Jowett engined Bristol.

The only details besides a photo say 'dry stored for some years' and a phone no. 01947 880265 which is in Robin Hoods Bay area of N. Yorkshire.

No price is given but the estimate would be £1500 - £2000 from the magazine's price guide pages.

I guess it might make next month's Jowetteer if it has not already been sold. I have not been in touch with the seller, beyond my means at the moment, and I daren't bring another Jowett here until I get one going!
I have a Javelin in need of full restoration.
Also member of Doncaster Traditional Car Club.
As a student I previously ran a Javelin and my father owned Jav. & Jupiter (in Eire)

Was it sold? Final price?

Do we know the new owner and is he/she a club member?

I know of another in East Sussex which had been restored to good working order a few (say 5 ) years ago but was dropped off the trailer when it was delivered to its new home, and the crankcase broke off!

The owner has a couple of spare crankcases with cranks and cylinders and is prepared to sell but reluctant to publish his location as he has about four acres of tractors, traction engines, stationery engines, lorries, a BLOOMING GREAT steam locomotive - standard guage 4 6 2, and all sorts of goodies that he is trying to keep quiet about!

If anyone would like me to make contact on their behalf then please let me know.

(No commission in it for me sadly! Just the warm feeling of finding it a good home.).
The devil is in the detail!
