Engine wanted

Post by Rickjupiter »

Hi all, I know it's a long shot but does anyone have a serviceable late type Jupiter/Javelin engine that's available for sale? The current engine in my Jupiter, is an early Javelin one that's got a few issues!

Also, I'm after a Jupiter wheel (a straight one! If you can help on either of the above I would be grateful.

Thanks, Rick Walters

Hi Rick,

I don't think I can help on the parts, but welcome to the forum.

Have you got details or a pic of your car that you can share?

Where are you based? Might be worth getting in touch with the local section, they often have a few parts and might have a complete engine that they would part with.

On the wheel, at the NEC John Morgan had reconditioned wooden wheels that should fit, though not original spec they do look nice and are available ready to fit for not a lot of money. Alternatively if you want to get a wheel reconditioned you might find Jowett Car Spares have stock of appropriate wheels in need of refurb, I don't know if they have a refurb service available but they may do. You will need to be a member to buy from them, but a call on a Monday night might answer the question for you before you commit to joining up.

Jack.

Thanks for your response Jack, maybe I should have been clearer, it's a steel road wheel I'm after! I will contact Tony at JCS.

However, I,m based in Flintshire, N.Wales and have been brought up on Jowett's (Jupiter's/Javelin's) and have recently had to sell my Javelin FBD 327 :( to make garage room for my 1952 Jupiter JWS 95 :D which I have taken over guardianship of from my Father (John Walters JCC member since 1963ish). JWS 95 has been his since the early sixties and I remember riding in it (and steering it!) aged 3 or 4 the car has over the past five or so years undergone a comprehensive mechanical and body restoration and returned to the road this year after a 'slumber' of about 43 years (well done Dad!) There is still work to do, details, interior etc so plenty to keep us busy!
Regards, Rick

Rick
A Jupiter wheel should not represent a problem. How urgent are you for it ? Drop me a PM with contact details and we should sort out something.
