Re: Uxbridge Show Sunday 21st July
Chris came around and we polished up the two Jups for the show.
I investigated a failing brake light that had originally failed in Denmark but was 'fixed' there. Anyhow after much fiddly work I renewed the spring on one of the contacts in the bulb holder. This involved bending back the tabs that hold the Bakelite insulator, unsoldering the contact and bending back the peening that holds the spring. Then I made a spring from one that was about the correct diameter, bent back the peening and re-soldered. Then refitted into holder and hammered back the tabs.
Progress was interrupted a few times to help Trevor Spero on the phone take his timing cover off so he can investigate the damage caused by a sheared distributor drive shaft. Off to help him fix it on Tuesday.

Trevors Accuspark dizzie.
This was the diversion that took place on Tuesday. Trevor in some fetching attire acting as a scrubber.
I went to Trevor's to sort out his distributor on the Jupiter. But since Trevor was doing a race later in the week he wanted to scrub the bottom of his boat. So a trip to the harbour and then a sail to another sailing club allowed the boat to be berthed and then we waited for the tide to go out.
Once scrubbed, we went back to fix the Jup.
Trevor had purchased a dizzie from Accuspark with electronic ignition. It fired up but the total advance was about 40 deg, so too much. So we are going to neeed to modify the stops and probably the weights to make it suitable.

Might be interesting to do some comparative tests on the dizzy tester?
See the variation between mechanical and electronic timing variation.

Really no need for the bench test. Trevor took the car out and indeed it did pink badly. Trev contacted Accuspark who sent a selection of baseplates and Trev purchased another 4 cylinder module. He has put this in a suitable old dizzie. We will modify the new dizzie I expect.
