Javelin accelerator cable
Becoming the recent owner of a Javelin, I am slowly working my way through the details and am hoping that someone out there can give me a guide regarding the length and dimensions of the inner cable for the accelerator [from pedal to linkage]. The one on the Javelin seems fine but haviing run the Jupiter for over 25 years with one breakage, I would find it prudent to carry a spare in the capacious boot of the Javelin.

Re: Javelin accelerator cable
Craig,
I think it really depends on how the cable is terminated. I have seen a few variations! I know that mine is non-standard having the inner cable clamped at the fan support bolt and having a boss on the throttle interconnecting rod which houses the outer cable.

Hi Craig.
I've had one or two breakages over the years. I've found a Mini cable suits the car well. Not the current Mini but just an old bog-standard 850/1000. It's amply long enough and has a nipple soldered on one end only.
Just thread it through from the pedal end, clamp the pedal fitment so the nipple won't pull through and fit the engine end as normal.
A few years ago I bought a pile of Velocette LE cables at a local LE rally. They are similar in length. If you're stuck I can send you one.

Re: Javelin accelerator cable
In 30 odd years of motoring - I have had two accelerator cables break on me - one on a mini and the other on a escort - the escort I got back home with a peice of cord strung through the bulkhead and under the dash - then operatered by hand - the mini was also returned some 40 miles back home with the same fix - but had to use both my boot laces tied together - it was the only thing I had suitable at the time
