Trafficators and indicators

Post by Forumadmin »

E0 PB 9622 has indicators fitted and the trafficator slot covered with a plate held by Phillips screws. We assume this was done at some time after initial registration in New Zealand. Has anybody an idea when this was done? When were the changes to regulations in New Zealand and what were the changes?

Note the two green direction lenses in the centre and the red mainbeam lens in front of the wheel and the two ashtrays. Were these fitted by the factory or before initial registration?

The car has no heater which we think was not available on the Standard PB.

Traficators are still legal in NZ on classic cars, and they do not need the indicators.....this is if a car is over a certain age.
On that basis I would say the trafficators had failed and where replaced with indicators, or indicators installed then at some time the traficators removed.

I removed my trafficators when I fitted front seat belts. The upper mounting fits to a plate where the trafficators should be so I cannot now refit the semaphores! I have been wondering how to cover the trafficator 'hole' to stop water getting in. Unfortunately there is no suitable rubber insert- unless someone knows of some cunning solution of course. I assume the plate is metal simply fixed with a screw? I had hoped for a neater solution personally.

Has anyone any ideas please?
