Rubbing handbrake on spare wheel carrier

Post by Forumadmin »

This had obviously been wrong for many years and only the two post lift has revealed the fouling between the two. I will investigate this week if it can be adjusted out.

This is now fixed. I disconnected the two clevis pins into each wheel cylinder and adjusted the length of the rods to get the clevis pins aligned down the axis of the car. Then adjusted the length of the handbrake cable by screwing the rear cable fully into the adjusting block and then further screwing the front cable into its adjusting block to give 5 to 7 clicks.

Note I also had to bend the three fingered arm up a bit so that the u shaped cable holder missed the rod (54102). Presumably it had been bent by continually hitting the spare wheel carrier.

Joe also helped by replacing the exhaust rubbers and the shock absorber rubbers.

The two weeks of servicing hopefully has prepared us for the coming journeys, but hey this is a Jowett.
