We're planning to be there (with Bedford motorhome, all are welcome to drop in for a G&T the end of a long day) and I am planning not to get anywhere near as drunk this time. That was a very fun day, and rather entertaining evening afterwards, but it definitely subdued us a little on the Sunday
I had to wait until about noon to be sure I was sober enough to drive home from the night before!
For anyone that hasn't been to this, it is unlike anything else I have ever seen - people wandering around in period dress (from all kinds of different periods) events going on all over the place, from games of croquet with a very large audience, possibly as a result of the young ladies in rather racy costumes playing (badly) all the way to a Tesco store with period products on the shelves and staff in their 1960s uniforms!
They also have a massive number of classic cars, literally as far as the eye can see, of every type and period.
Jack.

If you have not bought your tickets yet then you may be unlucky.
The Javelin will be taxiing VIPs, so come and see us at the Glamcabs turnin beside Gate 1 and the Main entrance. We write to give you exclusive advance warning that interest in this year’s Goodwood Revival (16-18 September) is running at an all-time high – meaning that in the next few days we expect to SELL OUT of entry tickets for SATURDAY. This also means that Weekend tickets will no longer be available once all Saturday tickets have been sold, which we expect to happen by Wednesday 7 September at the very latest.

We shall also making the annual pilgrimage to Goodwood - Sharon has virtually sorted our 40's / 50's themed outfits for the event - I have few odds on the Rover to attend to - in between selling the one of the modern fleet (sorry to see it go really) - attempting to get our apartment in London redecorated prior to it's sale and and few hours over at the Clements abode in order to maintain progress on the workshop extension - in fact I find myself doing the day job in order to chill out !!! (and the day job is no walk in the park either)

Are any other Jowetteers going to be at the Revival this year? Clements Snr and Jnr are headed down on Thursday afternoon with Chris, with Jack to follow later in the Love Bus and Sharon (Chris's far better half) joining us as soon as she is able. We shall be taking Mum's Javelin which shall be on taxi duty for the weekend, and Chris will be bringing his Rover. We'll be there all weekend and shall be staying either on site or very near by - if anyone's coming along, do drop us a PM and we can arrange a glass of Pimm's at the Love Bus
I am trying to find my and Jack's outfits which we have very cleverly put somewhere safe in all of our housemoving boxes...
but assuming we find them we shall be in 50s regalia. Photos no doubt to follow
I am also keeping my fingers crossed that the weather brightens up and we have a lovely mid-September Indian Summer. Well, I can hope!

Re: GOODWOOD REVIVAL 16 - 18 September 2011
Amy and I arrived a bit late on Thursday afternoon but managed to pitch the tent in the field next to the pub before the dew came down. A bevvy of bitter from the barrel left over from the A&J housewarming kept me going until the tent was up and this was followed by a some lovely wine and food in the pub.
Up at 6.30 next day to take the cars into the circuit. We planted the SC on top of the bank at Lavant corner. It was the only car there and hopefully was seen by all around that area. Since there are 130000 people for each of the three days that could be a lot of people! The Javelin had a busy working day mainly ferrying Lord March's guests from the house to the VIP lounge which was a reproduction of a Butlin's holiday camp. These guests were potential sponsors for the event and we gave them the initial revival experience after arriving in their Maseratis, Porsches and Maclarens.
The table for six in the evening turned out to only be for two. Firstly Sharon and Chris bailed out due to work, and Jack failed to start the love bus. We met Trevor and Sue Spero in their Javelin, and John Blankley. Whilst ferrying a passenger around the circuit I had a phone call from a doctor at home saying Jen was not well. After a few phone calls it was decided to admit her to hospital. Within the same hour I had a phone call saying my father was about to go into hospital. Logistically it was not possible to return home immediately so we waited till Jack arrived in the MX5 and decided to return home together in the evening.
Jack and Amy were resplendent in their period costumes and watched an acquaintance racing from the pits. Amy had a problem with wind. We packed the tent after I had finished my day's (and the Javelin's) work to return in the dark. I had been driving for over 13 hours that day so was quite tired.
My father was back home just before we arrived back home so we popped in to see him. Jen is still in hospital.
