Hi, Y'all,
Does anyone know a good reliable repairer of bodywork within striking distance of Manchester who can repair a front wing without taking 3 years over it ?
My Javelin wing has corroded through at the trailing edge. I was a little disappointed as both had been repaired by a vintage wing specialist. It would appear that the fixing/strengthening piece had been re-fitted without derusting and had spread across to the wing. I was upset until I realised it was done nearly twenty years ago ! Modern bodyshops just want to fit new panels.
Any contacts?

Bottom line..it is cheaper to by a mig welder and argon/co bottle...do a bit of practice, and repair yourself just as well.
If u go down this route, I will explain how to do it, theres nothing complex other than time

Thanks Keith,
I have done lots of MIG in the past. I prefer gas and repaired both my back wings some years ago. They had both rusted for the same reason...in fact they were rusting before I even fitted them on the car ! So much for a professional firm restoring vintage and classic bodies.
I did them with a no, 1 nozzle and 1/16 rod and they show no signs of rust or bubbling in 20 odd years. It's more a time thing...I have a lot on at the moment and it's one job I don't mind farming out, but I'll probably end up having to do it myself.
Regards
Ted
