Re: Nuts and Bolts
I agree on the quality and look of old nuts/bolts and always use them if possible, particularly in visible areas. I don't think it was just Jowett, I have taken apart a few Austin 7s which have fittings of a similar quality. If anyone has quantities of original BSF nuts and bolts, I will gladly take...

Re: WANTED: glove box lock
Thanks Chris and Steve. Very helpful information. In fact, I have now managed to buy a black-painted version, which I can combine with the bits I have to work for the Jupiter. Fingers crossed it is all in order when it arrives in the post.

WANTED: glove box lock
Can anyone help me out with a glove box lock for my Jupiter? It is the chrome cylindrical-shaped one, I am not sure if this is also common to some Javelins. I actually have the chrome part and the lock barrel but need the keeper and spring mechanism, so an incomplete one might do. JCS could not help...

Re: Flow testing of head.
Fascinating to see this is possible. Have you thought about the carb/manifold yet? I guess a twin choke would be most efficient, but not really a period modification.

Re: Ethanol fuel residue?
Finally had chance to check my Dellortos: clean as a whistle. Turns out my car's poor running was caused by the Filter King, as I had changed the diaphragm and it messed up the pressure setting.
Could your fine debris be from a slosh tank sealant? I've had that problem on a previous car.

Well done Harry, Scott and team.
117mph top speed is pretty good going. Looks like you left it on Webers in the end?

Re: Ethanol fuel residue?
Hmmm good tip. I'm also experiencing rough running/poor tickover on the Jupiter fitted with these carbs. I'll check too.

Re: Flow testing of head.
If it is of interest, I have pictures of a sectioned head which is remarkably similar to the one shown by Richard. It would seem that the cores didn't move too much, which is reassuring.
It would be interesting to have more detail on the improved designs being tested.

Re: Jupiter restorations.
The same thought might apply to the Bradford, you can just about lie down in the back. I suggest using a water repellant grease, probably calcium based. https://www.vintageandsportscarservices.co.uk/penrite-graphite-grease-for-shackle-and-spring-leaf-lubrication-500g-41-p.asp Careful. I think that ...

Re: Jupiter restorations.
Hi David -you are right, it is odd. I don't believe it is the correct gauge for a Jupiter. It should read the other way and have square 'pips' to indicate graduations on the scale, very much like the fuel gauge etc. If you do a Google image search on 'Jowett Jupiter Dashboard' you will see what I me...

WANTED: Javelin Door Handle
I am helping a friend who is seeking a Javelin exterior door handle for the drivers door (the one with a lock). Any condition would be of interest, even incomplete as we have a broken one.

Re: Jupiter restorations.
I've used slosh tank sealant on a number of cars. For the most part the result has been good. The older sealant had a tendency to flake off when the ethanol content of fuels increased and I experienced that on one tank. I understand that the new versions are ethanol safe. Several years ago, I made a...

Very interesting to hear about this project. What would the £1000 deposit cover? - pattern making and casting? Presumably not machining too?

Re: VSCC light car race
Not likely to be one of the competitors suggested as this is an image from a VSCC race meeting of the 50's or 60's.
